...Review: "Age of Winter Kings"... |
Born to Die (POL)
It's worth waiting for the new material from Czech, although the label changed. However I have certain (some) doubts if it's surely other label. Let's leave it (this matter) for somebody else and shift to music. First, I love CDs im my native language and everything which is not in English is, in some way, exotic... It is necessary to listen to this introduction to know what I mean. Secondly, the music speaks. Though it didn't make it through any particular metamorphosis, but - in my opinion - sounds far better than on the previous album. Getting rid of the female vocal section was a bull's eye. In general the whole graphic design more properly pictures black metal with folk (folklore) elements. Though this folk seems to be more like celtic Ireland than slav Chech... However, if I know history well, they used to (camp) in this area in some centuries. I know I may be wrong - I'm no ethnographer and I'm not supposed to be. So, getting back to the sounds of "Slovanska Krev" topic... Massive sound, pull-buzz guitars, sometimes strongly accenting the climate and devilish wokal, this is what I like. Marching rhythm drumming and stronger accents + not to fast tempo of the songs interrupted by the recitations to music. In a simple way consolidates the whole. Say what you want to say, but Czech did some splendid work. Even such a guy as Lutek from time to time feels like listening to Adultery - he's a really fastidious guy.

The black-white cover CD and the name of the album "Slovanska Krev", made me think that this piece of plastic contained a kind of black. And it was really that atmospheric Slavonic pagan folk black metal naturally in the native language. As for the appearance, musicians don’t pretend to be fearful paint-corpse trolls, although they are wearing the Viking clothing, with all that sharp things, like axes, included. Mini consists of 7 songs that offer you 20 minutes of non-boring time. That’s just the second band’s release, but soon Czechs are releasing their DVD .Unlike our bands that guys can afford to don’t this. All who are interested may visit their official web site.
