Metal March (POR)

Here's a very interesting release from Adultery. I always thought this was just a normal CD since it comes in a jewelbox, but I also noticed it featured too many things just for a normal CD. Anyway, I decided to post this review in the CD section, bu this is not a normal CD, it's a DVD, just so we're clear on that.I must confess I had not heard of Adultery before, even though they were formed back in 1995. Not that familiar with the music scene over there at the Czech Republic, I guess. It's actually kind of surprise how these guys decided to release a DVD now because up to date they've only release a demo, a full-length and the "Slovanská krev" EP. Still, no complaints about that whatsoever, when the bands have enough material, they should always put DVD's out there, fans love them!
Looking around to gather some more info on Adultery, the words "black" and "folk" could be found quite often. And I guess that would be a good definition on their sound, although the Pagan Metal genre would fit here quite well. It's just the whole vibe they transmit, not to mention a few other small details, like the singer wearing a small combat helmet during a few songs or playing without t-shirts (although that's for the ladies, they said during the interview). They are also big drinking fans, another sign of the whole Pagan feeling and way of life. Their sound is also quite raw, but that would be normal after what I said. Vocals are very harsh but there are also clean ones, which I feel fit great here. They can be playing raw Black Metal and soon change it and become a Folk Metal band.
I've had my share of DVD reviews, and Adultery knew what they were doing here. You get a complete concert from 2005 (Live in Prostor), and also a couple of videos from another concert in 2004 (Live in Kozlovice). There's also the usual footage from when they are on the road, an interview, some videoclips and that's basically it.As a band, Adultery wouldn't offer anything new as a Black Metal band, but as a Pagan Metal band they are right up there. "Navia" is a must for any fan of this music genre, these guys have a true passion for what they are doing here and that should be rewarded.
